And Here I Am
And Here I Am is a powerful solo performance based on the life of actor Ahmed Tobasi, tracing his transformation from a boy growing up in the Jenin Refugee Camp to a fighter, a prisoner, an artist, and ultimately — a survivor. Written by award-winning playwright Hassan Abdulrazzak, the play blends tragedy with biting humour, fact with surreal imagination, as it follows Tobasi through the First and Second Intifada, Israeli imprisonment, armed resistance, and his turn toward cultural defiance. As Jenin faces fresh assaults today, And Here I Am resonates as both a personal journey and an urgent, unflinching story of Palestinian resilience.

Ahmed Tobasi is a Palestinian actor, director, and cultural leader from Jenin Refugee Camp. Growing up during the First Intifada shaped his artistic and political outlook.
Imprisoned for four years during the Second Intifada, he later joined The Freedom Theatre, using art as a form of resistance. After seeking asylum in Norway in 2009, he trained at the Nordic Black Theatre school.
Returning to Jenin in 2013, Tobasi became Artistic Director of The Freedom Theatre. He collaborated with playwright Hassan Abdulrazzak and director Zoe Lafferty on And Here I Am, his acclaimed solo show that has toured internationally for eight years.
